About
Jimmy O’Hare is an award-winning fingerstyle guitarist based on Victoria’s Surf Coast. His standing as one of Australia’s premier solo acoustic guitar players has been earned on the stages of countless festivals and venues across the country for over 12 years.
Jimmy is a highly skilled virtuoso whose shows have developed into performances brimming with creativity, showmanship and a story behind every note. Drawing from the legacy of acoustic guitar greats such as Tommy Emmanuel, Andy McKee and Michael Hedges, Jimmy’s original instrumental compositions feature a range of extended techniques. Each show is a masterclass on fingerstyle, two handed tapping and percussion on the body of the guitar.
A graduate of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Jimmy is also known for his work as the Director of the Macedon Ranges Music Festival (MRMF). Jimmy’s family founded MRMF in 2013 in the Gisborne backyard to raise money for the Cambodian Kids Foundation, a charity he has worked with closely for over a decade. Jimmy’s musical talents have landed him appearances at the National Celtic Festival, Melbourne Guitar Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, Melbourne Guitar Perspectives Concerts and a live national TV performance on ABC Breakfast News.
Jimmy’s debut album ‘An Open Sky’ was released in January 2023.
